Top city schools' criteria in flux?
When I first heard about this policy I thought it was just a joke. But now that I see that Dr. Ackerman is going through with this I need to speak my mind. If she goes through with this I know that there will be riots and strikes. I am all for building up the neighborhood schools. If we build up our neighborhood schools, our communities, our health services, and our jobs programs. Then we won't have to force special admissions schools to lower their standards.

Stand with Haiti
What happened in Haiti was tragic! I feel for the people there who have lost their family and friend to the earthquake. And for those who lost their arms and legs and what ever else they lost. And I commend that nurse who lost her sister and niece to the earthquake. She really could have just given up on life and helping people. But she didn't and I truly am grateful that people in Haiti have people like that there to stay and nurse them back to health.

10th Grade year!!
The year so far has been going horribly. First off I had Ms. Gold and I didn't want her. And now I didn't even make it to cities in NHD!!!! And I worked really hard!! And now for the second half of the year I still have Ms. Gold!!!

Lies My Teacher Told Me by James W. Loewen
Have you ever read a book that’s just too long to read because it was confusing or dull? Well I have! I have to say that Lies My Teacher Told Me holds the number one spot of the most boring book I have ever read in the fifteen years of my life. Anyways let’s move on to the essay! There are three topics I will be discussing to explain why I didn’t like Lies My Teacher Told Me. Dull, dull, dull that’s what I think about this book. It talked about boring subjects. The book took too long to read. Each chapter had thirty pages and above. Throughout the whole book I never stopped being confused. It took too long to explain one word. So here we go!
The first reason why I didn’t like Lies My Teacher Told Me it’s just too dull for me. I like excitement and adventure, and this book had none of that. It talked about things that just didn’t make sense. In the first chapter the first sentence says, ‘This chapter is about herofication…’ I looked up the word herofication and it doesn’t exist, so why put something in a book that doesn’t make sense or exist. The book also talked about people with boring lives. In chapter 1 it talks about Helen Keller, a famous woman, whose deaf and blindness didn’t stop her from learning how to read, write and speak. That was the only exciting thing that occurred in her life. And as the book went on I got even more bored and tired. In my opinion only three words can explain this book, Dull, Dull, Dull!!
The second reason why I didn’t like, Lies My Teacher Told Me it’s to long. This book just had too much to read. If you ever read this book you will see what I’m talking about. One subject took to long to explain. Normally, a chapter ranges from six to twenty pages. But chapter four, Red Eyes, just didn’t want to follow that range. It wanted to take up thirty-nine pages to finish the topic of historically. That went over nineteen pages. If I had a say this book would be band on that reason along with many others.
Lastly, the reason why I didn’t like, Lies My Teacher Told Me it’s just to confusing to me. Whenever the book would be explaining a topic less than two seconds later another topic would just come out of nowhere. In chapter 1 the book explains Helen Keller’s life and the next thing I know Woodrow Wilson’s life comes up. When I read a book I want to understand the words that I am reading but this book was filled with advanced words that I didn’t understand. Now that can be a good and a bad thing for me. Good things can come out of this by me learning new words. Bad things can come out of this by me having to figure out what this words mean and then trying to understand them. And that will take up more time that I could be using to finish the book. I came across the word ‘degenerative’ in the book and I didn’t understand it so I looked it up. Then looked up synonyms for it. Then I finally found a word that I could understand that still meant degenerative. This book’s full of long drawn out unclear chapters.
I have one last thing to say to you, I didn’t like Lies My Teacher Told Me and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone to read because it just made me want to take a nap. It took to long to read because of the long explanations. And it made me confused. I felt like this book should have never been published because it’s horrible!!

Beyond the Line (Huck Finn)
Q: What do you think would happen if Huck Finn went to school in our world?
A: Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you were in another world? I definitely have. And you know what I asked that same question about Huck Finn. I came to three conclusions. Conclusion number one he would get teased. Conclusion number two he would be in the remedial class, And conclusion number three he would be treated differently.
I think he would be teased because he would be talking the same as we do today. He talked very old time country. He didn’t use proper grammar when he talked or wrote. He wrote how he spoke. So my guess is that he would definitely be teased.
Another conclusion I came to was that he would be in the remedial class. The only reason why I say that is because in the book he says that six times seven is thirty-five. Now if you paid any attention in math or even have any common sense you should know that six times seven does not equal thirty-five it equals forty-two. That just goes to show that he doesn’t know what he is talking about. It also shows that he needs to be in a remedial class because he seems very remedial to me.
My third and final conclusion is he will be treated differently. He talks in a different way, he doesn’t know math very well, and he is very remedial. He will totally have more attention on him because he would need extra help. If he weren’t being tease he would definitely be treated differently. He is just an outsider and he doesn’t belong.
